It all started when I completely humiliated myself in front of my entire team.
My name is Faris Khan, and I'm a certified functional fitness and performance coach.

I was reeling with shock, embarrassment, disappointment, and regret.
I know it sounds crazy now, but as a 15-year old, it was an extremely painful experience.
BUT...
It woke something up within me.
A hunger to become the ultimate physical specimen.
To never let myself be outmatched ever again.
I wanted to be strong.
I NEEDED to be strong.
And fast.
And jacked.
And unbeatable.
And for the first time in my life, I was ready to put in the work to get it.
Learning how to train right was intimidating. There was SO MUCH information out there and I felt completely overwhelmed.
I spent that whole summer in the gym, at the library, and on YouTube.
I wanted to learn everything I possibly could about elite athletic performance.
But I had no clue what I was doing.
I didn’t know anything about the human body, nutrition, training, programming, rest, recovery, or any of the other critical components of fitness.
But I grinded through and little by little, my confusion was slowly replaced with momentum.
I had a long way to go, but I started to hear some positive feedback.
I was getting faster.
I was getting stronger.
I got compliments on my new physique at school.
I even ended up making the varsity track team and breaking school records before graduating.
That victory inspired me to challenge myself even further:
I wanted a track scholarship.
But…
I was too late.
I had spent too much time relying on outdated exercise knowledge, amateur techniques, throwing stuff at the wall, and trying to figure it all out by myself.
Although I had gotten faster and stronger, I simply hadn't progressed fast enough.
By the time I graduated high school, no major college program was interested in me.
But I wasn't going to be defeated again that easily.
I wanted to become a high-performer in all areas of life, especially when it came to my body.
It was time to stop relying on clickbait-y YouTube workouts and trial and error.
It was time to get serious.
From overwhelmed beginner in the gym with no direction to record breaking athlete and certified elite performance and athletic coach.
I was so committed that I went to college to study kinesiology.
I kept improving.
Stronger. Faster. More muscular.
